The most beautiful camp in New England
Described as “the most beautiful summer camp in New England” by visitors from the American Camp Association, Camp Susan Curtis is a well-cared for, pristinely natural environment ideally situated on 100 acres of conservation land. As with everything we do, we give great attention to detail. Participants sleep in comfortable log cabins, each with electricity, full bathrooms, and outdoor porches that serve as a leisure-time gathering place.
Alfond Lodge is a majestic dining hall and recreation center that contains a full-court indoor gymnasium, restrooms, and porches. The Lodge has plenty of capacity to allow games and physical activity even on rainy days.
The Arts & Crafts area now occupies the back portion of the original Trout Lodge with a pottery porch, art studio, and crafts classroom. CSC Explorers, an engaging environmental awareness program, is based out of the front of Trout Lodge in the area that was the original Dining Hall.
Angela Curtis Memorial Theater
A full-size theater with lights, stage and seating provides a wonderful venue for performing arts. And not only the artists have an opportunity to learn in the Theater, Camp Susan Curtis is introducing future audiences to live performance!
Two sports fields provide room for softball, soccer, football, and volleyball, as well as 10 acres for archery.
Our waterfront features beautiful & private 88-acre Trout Lake, rated one of the cleanest in Maine and the upper-most lake in the Kezar Lake Watershed. Our waterfront is ideally suited for a full program of swimming and canoeing, kayaking, and fishing. As the only occupant on Trout Lake’s shores, Camp Susan Curtis campers have the benefit of unencumbered beauty and the daily call of the loons.
Challenge Ropes Course
The Challenge Ropes Course features an extensive low and high element ropes course designed specifically to support our mission by providing opportunities for participants to develop leadership and group skills, while enhancing individual self-confidence. A climbing tower will complement the Challenge Course in 2017 thanks to the National Recreation Foundation.
More than 8 miles of hiking trails extend around the lake, watershed and surrounding mountains for our program participants to enjoy. Allen Mountain offers a beautiful view of the Three White Mountain Ranges and Trout Lake below. McDaniels Mountain provides a great overnight camping location, an activity all program participants look forward to and enjoy.
