Science & Technology

The Camp Susan Curtis Environmental and Experiential Education Center is designed to provide low-income students with high-quality environmental education and leadership development programs at a reduced cost. All educational programming is tailored to the educational needs of each school.

Leadership Development and Environmental Curriculum

Communication Skills – Students strengthen communication skills, discuss bullying in schools, practice conflict resolutions, asset building and assertive behavior.
Relationships – The class focus is on improving the skills needed to build positive and healthy relationships in all parts of the student’s life.
Teambuilding – Encourages students to practice problem solving skills that help each student become a positive contributing member of a classroom or other group.
Solo – Students have the freedom to spend time identifying personal strengths and talents, envision future dreams and establish a long-term goals through solo's and journals.
Decisions – The class goals are to explore adolescent risky behavior and strategies to make healthy decisions and to encourage students to set long-term goals.
Leadership Adventure – Using the low and high ropes course, students are encouraged to take positive risks, discover peer trust and practice supporting others.

Environmental Education -  Utilizing our 2,500 acre watershed and Environmental Education Center, students can participate and develop a greater understanding of systemic environmental practices and education in areas such as: Forest Ecology, Water Ecology, Scientific Reasoning, Classifying Life Forms, Plant Taxonomy, Wildlife Study and the Earth. Activities include: Pond and Lake Ecology, Environmental Awareness Project, Map & Compass, Orienteering, Forest Canopy, Environmental Concerns, Nature Study, Leaf and Tree Identification, Natural Habitat, Recycling& Renewable Energy Practices.
