Beim Foundation

We are pleased to recognize the Beim Foundation as our Featured Donor!

beim foundationThe Beim Foundation is a new supporter of the Susan Curtis Arts Education Center!  Welcoming a new member into our circle of friends is always an occasion to celebrate, in part because it’s a sign of broad-based community support, but also because it highlights the value of our programming for disadvantaged Maine youth.

The Arts Education Center was an important addition to our programs in 2007.  It enabled us to continue providing support to children who transition out of our experiential education programs for 8 – 12 year olds.   Our Leadership program for teens has extended its reach to encompass the Arts Education Center and our Venture Out expeditionary program, enabling us to serve more of Maine’s youth in need with life-skills, leadership and career training.

Our positive outcomes support the value of our programming:  of student campers who are with us for four years and learn leadership, 8 out of 10 go on to college (compared with 6 out of 10 statewide).
The Beim Foundation is “a multi-generational family foundation, (that) honors the past while embracing the future.”; their foundation ”expresses its values by making grants in the community in the areas of arts, environment, human services and education.”

We are grateful for the support of the Beim Foundation and would like to express our appreciation to all our friends for making a real difference in the lives of the Maine youth who attend Susan Curtis programs each year!
