WHAT TO EXPECT CHECK-IN DAY:   Arrival time: 4:00 - 5:30 p.m.

Please do not arrive early. The check-in process will not begin before 4:00 p.m.:

  • When you arrive, there will be a camp staff member at our gate to instruct you where to park and place your child's luggage. All luggage will be transported into camp by Camp Susan Curtis staff.
  • It takes about five minutes to walk into camp, and the registration process generally takes about a 1/2 hour. If you or any of your family members are unable to walk into camp, please let one of our staff members know so that we may accommodate you.

FROM THE PORTLAND AREA To CAMP SUSAN CURTIS: (About 1 1/2 hour drive).

  1. Take Route 302 through the Lakes Region to Route 35 in Naples (junction is at the stop light at the Naples Shopping Center).
  2. Go right on Route 35 North.
  3. Follow Route 35 through Waterford, bearing left at The Lake House (an inn) and continuing on Rt. 35 N.
  4. In North Waterford, Rt. 35 intersects with Rt. 118. (Kosi Convenience is on left). Bear left, following Rt. 35 N & signs to Stoneham & Lovell.
  5. Shortly you'll reach the intersection with Rt. 5, do not turn right on Rt. 35 N to Bethel
  6. Stay with Rt. 5 South for 3 miles to Stoneham. Pass the  Stoneham Congregational Church (look for a Camp Susan Curtis directional sign on the right) and
  7. Take the first paved LEFT onto Butters Hill Road.  At the turn, the Stoneham Rescue Barn will be on the left.
  8. Follow Butters Hill Road for approximately 3/4 mile until coming to Allen Road and the Camp Susan Curtis sign.
  9. Turn left onto Allen Road and follow it until the pavement ends. 

FROM THE FRYEBURG AREA: (About 1/2 hour).

  1. Follow Rt. 5 North.  Pass North Lovell on Rt. 5 North,
  2. Go RIGHT onto Butters Hill Road before entering the village of  Stoneham (look for a Camp Susan Curtis directional sign on the right). 
  3. At the turn, the Stoneham Rescue Barn will be on the left. Follow Butters Hill Road for approximately 3/4 mile until coming to Allen Road and the Camp Susan Curtis sign. 
  4. Turn left on Allen Road and follow it until the pavement ends. 

FROM AUBURN AREA TO CAMP SUSAN CURTIS: (About 1 hour travel).

  1. Take Route 121 to Mechanic Falls to Route 26, Go right on Rt. 26

From Norway:

  1. follow Rt. 118, going through Norway and staying with Rt. 118 into North Waterford (Kosi Convenience is on the left) where Rt. 35 intersects.
  2. Stay straight, follow Rt. 35 N & signs to Stoneham & Lovell. Shortly you'll reach the intersection with Rt. 5, do not turn right on Rt. 35 N to Bethel
  3. Stay with Rt. 5 South for 3 miles to Stoneham.
  4. Pass the Stoneham Congregational Church (look for Camp Susan Curtis directional sign on right) and take the first paved LEFT onto Butters Hill Rd. 
  5. Follow Butters Hill Road for approximately 3/4 mile until coming onto Allen Road and the Camp Susan Curtis sign. 
  6. Turn left onto Allen Road and follow it until the pavement ends. 

Note:  Check-in for Arts Center student-campers will take place at Camp Susan Curtis in Stoneham
FROM PORTLAND/FRYEBURG TO THE C.S.C. ARTS CENTER at HEWNOAKS

  1. Take Route 302 to Fryeburg. Take a right on Route 5 (North) towards Lovell & Center Lovell.
  2. The Arts Center is past Severance Lodge but before Boulder Brook on Route 5, Left hand side.   

FROM AUBURN AREA TO C.S.C. ARTS CENTER AT HEWNOAKS (About 1 hour travel).

  1. Take Route 121 to Mechanic Falls to Route 26,
  2. Go right on Rt. 26

From Norway:

  1. Follow Rt. 118, going through Norway and staying with Rt. 118 into North Waterford (Kosi Convenience is on the left) where Rt. 35 intersects.
  2. Stay straight, follow Rt. 35 N & signs to Stoneham & Lovell. Shortly you'll reach the intersection with Rt. 5, do not turn right on Rt. 35 N to Bethel
  3. Stay with Rt. 5 South for 7 miles.
  4. Hewnoaks Drive will be on the right hand side right after Boulder Brook but before Severance Lodge. 

WHAT TO EXPECT ON DEPARTURE DAY:  DEPARTURE TIME: 10:00 a.m.

Your child will sign up to participate in various activities during their stay at camp.  One of those activities might be theater.  There will be a performance just for parents on pick-up day.  That performance will begin at 11:00 a.m.  The staff at the gate will have a list of theater participants so you will know if your son or daughter is in the play.  If they are, please go to the theater and finish the check-out process after the performance.  

  • Be sure to bring your photo ID to pick up your camper. Your child will not be released unless the photo ID matches someone listed on the camper release form.
  • Your child's luggage will be placed by cabin assignment at the farm house. Please make sure your child has all of their belongings before leaving camp.
  • Late pick-up.   It is not possible to arrange someone to stay with your camper beyond the pick-up times.  If there is an emergency, please call the camp office at 207-928-2955 so that we can make arrangements together.
